What are the types of knitted fabrics?

Single jersey fabric

Single jersey fabric has a front and back，it is woven with a knitting machine, usually with a bit of elastane added to the fabric for extra stretch. Single jersey is a bi-stretch fabric that stretches in four directions.

double knit fabric

Double knit fabrics are knitted by two sets of needles, and are more stable and thicker than single jersey fabrics, but it's a little less elastic. It is suitable for making blazers, classic pants, skirts and suits.

interlock knit fabric

Interlock knit fabric is a double knit fabric. The fabric has a compact appearance, very tight stitches and thin yarns. Interlock knit fabric is stronger than single jersey and will not curl raw/cut edges. It is very suitable for making baby and toddler clothes.

jacquard knit fabric

Jacquard knit fabric is another double knit fabric. Jacquard designs (such as patterns, reliefs, etc.) are woven into the fabric, not printed. Jacquard knit fabric has less elasticity than other types of knit fabrics, but it has better drape and fine workmanship.

Stretch knit fabric

This is a knit fabric made from cotton fiber or other fiber with a small amount of elastane added. This kind of fabric has more elasticity and recovery, so it is especially suitable for making sportswear.
