What is pique fabric?

Pique fabric is a category of large circular machine weft knitted fabrics, also known as PK fabric in some regions of Hong Kong and Taiwan. Pique fabric can be woven from cotton, blended cotton, or synthetic fiber materials. The surface of the fabric presents a sparse pore shape, resembling a honeycomb. It is precisely because of its distinctive pattern that it is also a relatively recognizable fabric, and some people call it pineapple fabric. Pique fabric can be divided into single pique (four corner PK) and double pique (six corner PK) according to different weaving methods.

Advantages of pique fabric:

1. Breathable and washable: Due to different manufacturing processes, the surface of the pique fabric is porous and honeycomb like, making it more breathable, dry, and washable than ordinary knitted fabrics.

2. Sweat-absorbing and high color fastness: Pique fabric can absorb sweat more effectively, and it is not easy to deform after absorbing sweat, the color fastness is good, and is not easy to fade even after washing. Usually, it is used to make T-shirts, sportswear, etc.

3. Straightness: Pique fabric has a better straightness, and many large brand POLO shirts use pique fabric as the collar.

4. Breathability and Moisture Permeability: The pique fabric adopts a bead structure, which has excellent breathability and moisture permeability, and a relatively soft feel, even in the scorching summer, it can provide us with a gentle touch and comfortable enjoyment. The appearance of pique fabric is soft and casual, with no deformation after washing and no deformation during machine washing.
