The fabric of flannel, classic menswear lovers think of light gray suits, while most people think of plaid shirts for autumn and winter. The appearance of the fabric itself, around the 16th century, was in Wales.
The first use of this fabric was by British miners, and it was also used to make military clothing. But at that time, the clothes made of flannel were not even plaid shirts, but the layer of sweaters for warmth.
In the 1920s and 1930s, flannel fabric began to enter the realm of formal wear. For example, the students in England wore flannel grey trousers.
By the 1940s, the color of the flannel gradually turned to more traditional, serious color. It is not difficult to imagine that this is to please political and business customers.
By the 1950s, this fabric had become an all-around favorite of Americans. Hollywood stars were instrumental.
Then, the popularity of flannel started to go downhill. We saw the popularity of corduroy in the 1960s and 1970s, the rise of high-woven worsted in the 1980s and 1990s, and then in 2000, flannel became Darling again.
