Plain cotton fabric has the characteristics of compact structure, uniform surface, clear texture, smooth and soft, and silky feeling. The surface of the fabric has obvious, well-proportioned diamond-shaped particles composed of raised parts of the warp yarns.

Compared with muslin, the warp direction of poplin is tighter, and the ratio of warp and weft density is about 2:1. Poplin is made of uniform warp and weft yarns, woven into a tightly structured grey fabric, and then singeing, scouring, mercerizing, bleaching and printing, dyeing and finishing. It is suitable for shirts, outerwear and other clothing, and can also be used as embroidery base fabric. According to the raw materials of warp and weft yarns, there are ordinary poplin, fully combed poplin, and half-line poplin (warp strands); according to weaving patterns, there are hidden poplin, satin satin poplin, jacquard poplin, and yarn-dyed poplin. , color striped color poplin, flash color poplin, etc.; by printing and dyeing, it is divided into bleached poplin, variegated poplin, printed poplin, etc.; The above kinds of poplin can be made of pure cotton yarn or polyester-cotton blended yarn.
