What Is Poplin

Poplin is one of the traditional handicrafts in Shandong Province. The earliest refers to the fabrics woven in the houses of feudal nobles or officials in Licheng, Penglai and other counties of Shandong Province. Its feel and appearance are similar to silk, so it is called poplin. Commonly used raw materials for poplin are pure cotton, polyester/cotton, etc.

Poplin is a fine plain weave fabric woven from cotton, polyester, wool and cotton-polyester blended yarns. It is a fine, smooth and shiny plain cotton fabric. Although it is a plain weave with a plain cloth, the difference is relatively large: the poplin has a good drape, and can be produced with a finer texture, richer feel and vision; while the plain cloth is generally of medium thickness, it cannot be made into a very delicate feel, and the feel is simple.
