Meltblown nonwoven fabric is a type of fabric produced through the melt-blowing process. In the melt-blowing process, polymers are melted at high heat and sprayed through small holes to create fibers, which are then formed into a net-like structure using air or mechanical pressure.
The production process of meltblown nonwoven fabric can be broken down into several key steps.
●Material preparation. Initially, polymer materials like polypropylene and polyester must be gathered and subjected to heating and melting to transform into a molten liquid.
●Melt injection. Molten polymer is injected through spray nozzles, where the nozzle's size and arrangement influence the fibers' form and spread. The fibers are ejected at high speed and gradually cool and harden as they move through the air.
●Fiber formation. The molten polymer fibers gradually form a mesh-like structure in the air. This occurs as the fibers are ejected and affected by air resistance and collisions, causing them to intertwine and create a web.
●Thermal roller shaping. Once the fibers are formed, they are shaped using thermal rollers, which not only increase the strength of the fiber mesh but also adjust the fabric's thickness. The temperature and pressure of the rollers should be regulated based on the specific requirements.
●Coating treatment. During the production of melt-blown nonwoven fabric, a coating treatment can also be applied. This coating enhances the fabric's functionality, such as making it waterproof or anti-static. Coating is typically done after the thermal roller shaping process.
●Winding and cutting. The last step of the process involves winding the meltblown nonwoven fabric into rolls and cutting it to the required size. Winding simplifies storage and transport, while cutting ensures the fabric is sized according to specifications.
The production process of meltblown nonwoven fabric offers several advantages, including the following:
